THE PROPOSAL

Maui, Hawaii

Our proposal story begins in the summer of 2015 after our 3rd trip to Maui, Hawaii with my parents. During our annual vacation recap and souvenir exchange with the Fredericks, Cole told them about how much fun we had and said that they should come with us next time! A few months later both families had booked their flights and we were already looking forward to the next summer.

Throughout the year (somehow without my knowledge) the proposal planning began! In the fall of 2015, he shared his plan with my best friend and maid of honor, Sarah Martin. At the beginning of 2016, Cole asked my dad to join him for a round of golf on an unseasonably warm day in January. During their golf outing he asked for my dad’s blessing. By spring of 2016, ring shopping was complete and before you know it was summer and we were packing our bags again for Maui, Hawaii.

On our third night in Maui, our moms had arranged for us to take family pictures during sunset with a photographer on staff at the Westin. Each family had color coordinated their outfits to capture the typical beach family photo. After the photographer took our family portraits, he offered to take a picture of me and Cole. With Instagram in mind, I happily agreed! After he took the picture of just us two, I turned towards Cole just as he was trying to get the ring box out of his back pocket. He got down on one knee, in front our both of our families, and asked me to marry him. Of course, I said yes! Thankfully he kept his proposal short and sweet because I didn’t even wait for him to get up before I jumped into his arms to hug him. The moment could not have been more perfect!

After the proposal, we walked towards the beach walk to head to a celebratory dinner. On the way our photographer suggested that we sneak in to get some additional pictures in a tent they had set up for wedding party later that evening. Without giving it much thought, I agreed and followed the photographer down a grass pathway into the tent. The pathway was covered in beautiful white flowers and as I carefully stepped through them, I turned to Cole and said, “don’t step on their flowers!” Cole laughed at me and my dad said “Kyndall, this is all for you”.  That’s when the second surprise of the night hit me (a serious ugly cry moment). We toasted with champagne and took in the moment under the beautiful white tent surrounded by tiki torches and the sound of the ocean in the background.

WE CAN'T WAIT TO BE ONE BIG FAMILY!
